Your next machine step is going to be the placement stitch
for your first appliqué.
Place your fabric over the placement stitches with the right
side facing up. Be sure to cover all sides, as well as having
enough fabric for a 1⁄2” seam allowance around the edges of
your block.
Proceed to run the tacking stitch step for the appliqué.
NOTE: We recommend using a matching thread color for
all your fabric tack downs. This will help ensure the crazy
stitch motifs will stand out better on the raw edges!
Once trimmed, your first appliqué should look something
like this.
With a sharp pair of curved tip embroidery scissors, trim
away any excess material from the tacking stitch, leaving the
fabric untrimmed anywhere it extends outside of the quilt
block’s edges to act as your seam allowance.
Follow along with pictured steps G - K for the remaining
appliqué fabrics, remembering to swap threads to match the
material for your tacking stitches.
