Place your base fabric with the right side facing up over the
batting, being sure to cover all sides. You will need it ensure
your base fabric is large enough for a 1⁄2” excess to extend
on all sides as a seam allowance.
Your next machine step will be the tacking stitch to ensure
your base fabric is secure. NOTE: Remember to use a
matching thread color for this step!
Continue running any standard embroidery until you have
reached the placement stitch for your ragged edge appliqué.
Proceed to run the tacking stitch for the ragged edge
appliqué. NOTE: Use a matching thread color since this
tacking stitch will remain visible in the finished design!
Place your appliqué material with the right side facing up. Be
sure to cover the entire placement stitch area.
The next machine step, will be a basting stitch around your
design that will guide your ragged edge trimming.
