You should have something that looks like this. Now, place
your base fabric right side facing up over your batting. Be
sure that all sides are covered, as well as having enough
fabric for a 1⁄2” seam allowance extending on all sides.
Run your next machine step in a matching thread color,
which will tack down your base fabric.
Following your design’s numbered machine steps, run any
decorative embroidery or quilt stippling until you reach the
first placement stitch for the puffy appliqué element.
Place the hi-loft batting over the placement stitches, being
sure to cover them on all sides. NOTE: If you don’t have hiloft
batting on hand, 2 layers of standard quilt batting will
work if you’re in a pinch!
