Using a pair of curved tip embroidery scissors, trim away the
excess batting from the tacking stitch line on all sides.
Now, place your base fabric right side facing up over batting
block. You will need to ensure you have enough fabric to
cover the block entirely while still having enough excess for
a 1⁄2” seam allowance on all sides.
Run your next machine step in a matching thread color,
which will be the tacking stitch for your base fabric.
Continue running your numbered machine steps while
following the indicated color changes until you have
reached a placement stitch for your first appliqué.
