Using a pair of curved tip embroidery scissors, neatly trim
away the excess batting close to the tacking stitch, being
sure not to trim through the tacking stitches.
Your block should now look something like this.
Next, place your base fabric on top of the batting. Be sure
to have enough fabric to cover the block entirely while still
having at least a 1⁄2” excess to act as a seam allowance on all
four sides.
Run the next machine step in a matching thread color, which
is the tacking stitch that secures the fabric to the stabilizer.
