BLANKET STITCH APPLIQUÉ - ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
As the name implies, a Blanket Stitch is a traditional finishing stitch that is often seen edging blankets, quilts and garments.
When it comes to appliqué, a Blanket Stitch is a great way to finish off an edge without creating a hard divide between the
base fabric and appliqué design. When paired with other quilting techniques, a Blanket Stitch offers a truly hand-finished
look, all in the speed of your embroidery machine! This lightweight, softened edge works perfectly in quilt blocks to reduce
the stitch count and bulk in a design.
The stippling included
in the blocks leaves an
area of absent space for
your center design to
prevent any distortion to
the focus of your block.
Notes:
This 4-ply running stitch
creates a series of “E” shaped
tick marks, creating an edge
that compliments rather than
competes with the design.
