Trapunto quilting, also commonly referred to as “puff quilting,” is a
quilting technique that has been used for centuries. The sections of the
design that are intended to be puffy or raised are given extra layers of
batting to achieve the stuffed look.
Traditionally, trapunto blocks were made by cutting a slit into the back
of the block in order to stuff it. We’ve made this quilting technique much
easier with our in-the-hoop quilting method. By adding extra layers of
batting to your design you’ll be able to create a trapunto quilt with ease,
and no slitting blocks required!
