RAGGED EDGE APPLIQUÉ - ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
When running the basting stitch, it is best to use a bright or
high contrast thread to make the outline easy to see and cut
along. This basting stitch will be pulled out, so the thread color
does not need to match or work with your other choices.
When trimming the various appliqués in the design, do not
forget to run the basting stitch before you cut! If you trim
too early, your basting stitch will have nothing to act as a
guideline for, and the design becomes more like raw edge
rather than the ragged edge we are aiming for.
