RADIAL BLOCK - ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
Don’t draw attention to the seam you’re trying to
disguise! The tacking and placement stitches are
not lined up for radial quilts, and if ran at the wrong
time, will create a second stitch on your final seam.
Run your placement stitch before you fold back the first
fabric, and the placement stitch will tell you where the edge
of the fold should hit, no guesswork needed!
Radial quilting differs from other folded fabric techniques
since the first fabric is not tacked down, but left loose during
the remainder of the design.
Make sure your first fabric piece is pulled out of the way when
running the placement and tacking steps for the third fabric,
or else the loose fabric can be eaten by your machine’s
embroidery foot or get tacked down incorrectly.
