KNOWLEDGE BASE - TOOLS OF THE TRADE
SPRAY ADHESIVE
RAZOR BLADE
Give a spritz of this tacky spray to ensure tight folds, affixing
fabrics to one another, and preventing fabric shifts. Just don’t
spray too close to your fabric to prevent stains!
Caution, sharp edges! This handy addition to your notions
kit is ideal for ripping out satin stitches (because we’ve all
threaded a wrong color at one point). Just slice the bobbin
for the satin stitches on the back of the hoop and pull them
off of the front of the design.
PINS
RULER
Best used when assembling a quilt or securing fabrics before
sewing. Extra fine glass head pins are ideal to avoid any
melting if you plan to take an iron your quilt seams or fabric
while still pinned.
Cut fabrics and seam allowances just right with this tool of the
trade. We suggest large, clear rulers that allow you to see the
project beneath it before making the cut.
CUTTING MAT
STEAM IRON
Don’t scratch or carve into your counters. Place this handy
mat down before using a rotary cutter or utility knife and your
work surface will be protected. BONUS: most cutting mats
have grids or rulers built in to help alignment and measuring.
Smooth those wrinkles and press your seams with a quick
pass from a steam iron. A steam iron also comes in handy for
shrinky projects or applying fusible backing to fabrics.
