SHADOW WORK - ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
Shadow Work is created when we place a sheer fabric, known as batiste, on top of the thread, providing a muted appearance
to the colors that you choose. To finish off each appliqué, decorative stitches and details will run on top of the batiste. To
get the most out of your Shadow Work technique, match the decorative stitches that go on the batiste with the spot color
underneath to accentuate the thread colors in your finished design!
Notes:
The shadow effect created
by the batiste comes from
the embroidery shading on
the designs. Once the batiste
goes on top, a softened color
After the batiste is palette is created.

top help bring out the
shadowed colors.
