LANDSCAPE - ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
When choosing the appliqués that will be used for your
landscape scene, try to stick with tones that work well
together, but have some variety. In our block, we chose to
stick with an ombré, neutral color palette, going from an
eggshell white to an ivory colored lace.
Mixing up textures is another great way to create some
variety in your block, just remember to carry the same fabrics
to the next block in the same order for it to flow together!
Another helpful reminder is to transition the color of the zig
zag stitch that is in between each layer of your landscape
scene.
Zig zag stitches are generally matched to the fabric they are
touching, but what to do when there are two different fabrics?
We simply chose to match the stitches with the fabric last laid
down, that way the zig zag stitch will help the ombré look
consistent.
