RAGGED EDGE APPLIQUÉ - STEP BY STEP
G H
Place a piece of appliqué fabric, right-side up, making sure to
cover the placement stitch.
Run any decorative embroidery in the design’s numbered
steps until there is a placement stitch for an appliqué.
J
Next is a basting stitch outline of the appliqué. This will be
used as a guide for trimming the appliqué to a ragged edge.
I
Run the next step, which is a tacking stitch for the appliqué,
followed by decorative bean stitching.

NOTIONS
L
Since this stitch is used as a cutting guide and
will be removed, choose a bright or contrasting
thread color to make it easy to see.
TIP
Remember not to cut yet! After this decorative
embroidery, a basting stitch will indicate exactly
where to cut the appliqué.
Trim tightly around the outside of the basting stitch guide. Using a seam ripper, remove the basting stitch.
