BASIC SASHING BLOCK - ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
When going to trim your block, we always suggest using a
rotary and straight edge to cut your seam allowance to 1⁄2”
on all sides. This 1/2” measurement has become a standard
whenever we make our quilt blocks since this will leave
adequate room for your seams when joining blocks.
When creating a basic sashing block, there is never much
room for error with so few steps, except when it comes to
your tack down color! Remember when tacking down your
base fabric that you want to match your thread to your fabric
choice as close as possible. This way, when putting your quilt
together and incorporating your sashing blocks, the seam
line will be more easily hidden.
