The third machine step is a tacking stitch for the base fabric
(shown in white). Do not trim this fabric, as it will be the
seam allowance.
BASIC SASHING BLOCK - STEP BY STEP
C
Place your cornerstone fabric, print-side up, over the trimmed
batting, being sure that the fabric extends past the batting
edge enough to provide a 1⁄2” seam allowance when the
block is completed.
Place a piece of batting over the top of the placement
stitches, making sure to cover them completely.
To begin, hoop a piece of No-Show Mesh stabilizer. Run the
first step of the design, which is the guide stitch for the batting.
Trim away the excess batting from outside the placement
stitch.
Run the next machine step, which is a tacking stitch for the
batting.

Remember to match your thread to the base
fabric. This will help keep a seamless look when
assembling finished blocks into a quilt.
