BUILDING YOUR OWN QUILT BLOCK - ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
DESIGN YOUR OWN BLOCK!
I Can Quilt gives you the freedom to be creative! With our easy 1, 2, 3 method, you will determine each part of your quilt block,
and assemble them all in a single hooping. To create your own quilt block, you will gather each part as follows:
1. Start with your background.
You have several options, such as stippling, background stitching, or a simple base block.
2. Next, comes the frame.
You have the option of a simple folded frame, deluxe folded frame, or no frame at all.
3. Finally, you will choose a center design.
We’ve included 6 isolated designs that each use a different technique.

Notes:
1. 2. 3.
In this “Building Your Own Quilt Block” part of your Anita’s University binder you will not see design steps for the background
or frame designs. You will only see design steps for the isolated designs. This portion of the tutorial is meant to teach you
how to build your own block by merging the individual designs together. Therefore, the design steps will vary based on the
separate components that are merged together. Refer to the “Stitching Your Design” tutorial located at the end of this section
for additional instructions on how to stitch out your block.
