QUILTING INTRO - QUILTING IN THE HOOP
Notes:
No Show Mesh Stabilizer is the stabilizer we use for all of our quilt
blocks. It is a sheer, cutaway stabilizer that is lightweight but sturdy,
providing a base for your design.
Squaring Stitch is the first step of every quilt block. It is run directly
onto the stabilizer and will show the entire area of the quilt block. It is
also the placement stitch for adding the batting directly into the hoop.
Base Fabric is the fabric that covers the entire batting and squaring
stitch area. If the design has no frame, this will also be used to create
your seam allowance, making the blocks easier to piece together.
Placement Stitch shows you where to place the appliqué fabric. It
will run directly onto the base fabric and will only go around the area
once. You will lay the appliqué fabric down after this has stitched. The
placement stitch will also show you exactly how much appliqué fabric
is needed, helping you minimize wasted fabric.
Tack Down Stitch follows the placement stitch. You will lay the appliqué
fabric down over the placement stitches before running this step. It will
tack the appliqué fabric to the quilt block and go around the area twice
to secure the fabric.
