FUSSY CUT BASIC BLOCK - ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
Sometimes the perfect piece of fabric just doesn’t need any help to shine! A Basic Block with Fussy Cutting is a simple quilt
block that has no embroidered embellishment to it, but relies only on the color and design of the base fabric. Fussy Cutting is
an embroidery term that refers to creatively and carefully choosing and trimming fabric to get the design of the fabric precisely
placed within a block or appliqué. These types of blocks may or may not have stippling added as a final step.
Notes:
In this basic block, the fabric
was fussy cut to feature the
perched bird in the center of
the block as a focal point.
