Step-by-Step
instructions
We will begin this project by making the 6’ table runner.
Take your 18” x 74” fabric and measure a 1/2” from the edge.
Using a steam iron, press all four sides of the linen into a
1/2” double fold.
To create the double fold, crease the fabric at a 1/2”, then
fold the raw edge in to create another 1/2” fold. The raw
edge should now be concealed.
Transfer the linen to your sewing machine and stitch a
straight stitch just inside of the fold to secure the new
seams. TIP: It is a good idea to use a matching or clear,
monofiliment thread for this stitch to help it blend with
your linen color.
Your newly hemmed table runner should look something
like this.
To add a decorative hem to the table runner, place a 20”
piece of trim or lace ribbon along the bottom hem. You will
want about 1” extending out on both sides.
Fold the lace edges over the side of the towel to wrap it
back by the seams. This should create a 1” tab of trim that
folds back.
