Choosing fabrics & Threads
Fabric Threads Notions
To create the lacy look of these
gowns, we chose to incorporate
a variety of colored organzas and
coordinating embroidery threads.
Each model’s dress is different, but
all of these figures will have two lace
organza pieces to go with their outfit.
Try referencing real designer images
for color inspiration, or pull ideas that
you’ve saved from the past. Stitch
these designs on a white felt for an
easy way to transfer to a tote, wall art,
or anything else you can think of!
The beauty in these luxe Lace Fashion
Figures is that each model has a
different dress and look! Decide
which one you want to work on,
then select the main color you want
incorporated into your figure’s dress.
Now, select tonal threads that show a
distinguishable change from light to
dark to use throughout the designs
and you’ll have a catwalk-ready
Fashion Figure in no time!
Besides your embroidery hoop
and wash away stailizer, in order to
complete these Lace Fashion Figures,
you will need a good pair of appliqué
scissors in order to trim your organza
layers. You will also need tape to
secure the free standing pieces to
the main design before they become
attached.
Depending on what you decide to
create with your Lace Fashion Figure,
you may also need a rotary cutter and
ruler to trim out the design. Don’t
forget to wind a matching bobbin to
keep it consistent on both sides!
