Threads
The best part about making “crazies” would be the
versatility of the looks you can come up with!
We opted for 5 Madeira threads that picked up the
fabric colors we chose to incorporate in our blocks,
and placing the colors on fabrics in the opposing
colors to create contrast.
Notions
Just like with any quilt block, the notions are kept
relatively simple! You will need a good pair of
scissors for trimming the crazy quilt appliqués,
as well as a rotary cutter and a ruler to cut away
any excess material and trim the blocks to a 1/2”
seam allowance.
Fabric
From silks, denim, linen, and cottons, almost any fabric can be pieced into these blocks
with a simple swap of thread colors, which means this is a great block style to stitch with
those left over scraps you love! For our blocks, we chose to use a fat quarter bundle of
patterned flannels to keep a consistent color scheme, but get creative with what you
choose. You could even make a seasonal themed Crazy Quilt!
