Choosing fabrics & Threads
Fabric threads notions
Since these designs are stitched
directly onto your tea towels, you will
need a finished tea towel or other
kitchen linen for your project. The
fabrics used in the design can be as
simple or bold as you’d prefer, but we
kept with the festive theme!
Find a coordinating fat quarter bundle
of holiday patterns and incorporate
these into the designs with appliqué.
Remember to keep the palette simple,
because sometimes less is more!
These towels rely on fun and festive
thread colors to bring the holiday
cheer to the finished look! We suggest
starting with the classic Christmas
shades of red and green, then
developing further color choices from
there.
Try including a shade darker or lighter
from the originally picked hues to
create more depth in your design.
Select the Holiday Tea Towel of your
choice, then work through a colorway
that suits all the elements in the
design.
Tea towels are one of the easier
projects to conquer once you see
how easy they are! Since these are
completed on a Wash Away stabilizer,
you will only need a good pair of
appliqué scissors to cut away the
appliqués.
Tape can also be handy for securing
appliqués until they get tacked down.
You will also need a seam ripper to
remove the basting stitch at the end.
