Choosing fabrics & Threads
Fabric Threads Notions
Since these holiday inspired
needlepoint designs are stitch
intensive, it is a good idea to select a
fabric that has a bit more substance
or durability to it than a standard
cotton.
We opted for an off-white linen as our
fabric choice that features abstract
shimmering swirls across the surface.
By choosing a lighter colored fabric,
you will ensure the details and thread
colors used in your design will be
decipherable, while the subtle sheen
still gives the design a festive look.
Nothing says Christmas like red
and green! Since these designs
are inspired by a more traditional
technique and look, the thread
choices we selected have muted
or rich variations of the traditional
holiday shades.
Remember when selecting threads of
one color, such as red, to choose shades
that are noticeably darker or lighter
from the others in order to not create a
big blob of reds in your design!
This design will require only a few
notions to turn these designs into a
pretty display piece! It is important
to remember to back your fabric
with a fusible interfacing to prevent
puckering in the design. You will also
need a piece of tear away stabilizer
for your hoop, a nested circles ruler,
and a pair of embroidery scissors.

List and Step by Step instructions for
completing the project.
