Traditional with a twist
Creating a traditional quilt dates back centuries, with
individuals practicing piecing a quilt for the necessity of
keeping warm. Quilt trends and patterns began to shift
as function led way to more decorative quilts or patterns
with a purpose. These traditional style blocks will have
the look of classic quilting, but can be updated with fun
or contemporary fabrics.
Color Coordinating
Creating a cohesive quilt is easier than you’d think!
Simply start by deciding your block patterns, then select
the fabrics. For the best look, pick patterns or colors that
go well together. For our blocks, we worked with a fat
quarter bundle of contemporary florals and patterns to
bring a fun mod look to the traditional designs.
Beautiful quilting patterns

Perfect placement
To get the most out of these traditional block patterns,
it is important to note your fabric placements or to
plan in advance what patterns will be placed in specific
locations. With certain blocks, such as the Flying Geese
pattern, certain tones or shades should be placed in
designated folded spaces to achieve the desired look. It
can be helpful to look up the quilt patterns online and
determine if there is a color or tone trend in the block
style you prefer.
