Fabric Threads NOTIONS
These cute characters want some
extra flair to their looks, and a
little fabric can go a long way! Get
creative with the appliqué fabrics
you incorporate into these animal
designs, such as swapping an
animal’s cotton appliqué for a soft
minky or flannel.
As for the block base fabric, we opted
for a solid, gender neutral cotton that
is used in all the designs, perfect for
making a Welcome Home quilt for any
new bundle of joy!
Since these blocks are sew simple,
your thread choices shouldn’t be too
hard! Each block has nature elements
in the scenes, so try selecting some
browns and greens to carry through
each block design for consistency.
Some splashes of vibrant color can
also be incorporated for accent
critters like the birds and butterflies
peeking certain scenes. Whatever you
choose, these animals are sure to
look adorable!
Creating these fun friends can be
done with ease, only the basic quilt
block notions are needed! You’ll want
to snag a trusty pair of scissors for the
animal appliqués.
If your appliqués tend to shift or
wrinkle when getting tacked down,
some embroidery tape can be helpful
as well. Grab your rotary cutter and
ruler to trim the blocks to size, and
you’ll be on your way to a new quilt in
no time!
