Once the second fabric is secured, your block should
look something like this. Repeat steps K through P for the
remaining folds.
You will then run the placement line for your final tack,
which will be for the unsecured Cornerstone fabric (in
white)
WARNING: Before beginning the last secondary fabric
piece, be sure to “fold” your Cornerstone fabric out of
the way for the tack (as shown above by the arrow).
Pull the loose Cornerstone fabric over the placement stitch
line to gauge the size needed for your fold.
TIP: If needed, use scissors to trim any excess material.
Just be sure to leave about a 1/2” excess to fold under for
your finishing seam.
Fold the loose end of the Cornerstone fabric under itself,
creating a clean edge on the fabric to align just over the
edge of the placement line. You will want your fold to
create the clean edge and still leave about 1/16” over the
placement line to catch the tack.
Run the last tacking stitch for your block. Trim any excess
fabric that became folded along the inside of the open
square of the block.
Your radial folds are now complete and your block is ready
to stitch the mandala we merged earlier. Run the next step
in your machine, which will be the placement stitch for the
hidden appliqué under your mandala design.
