Run the tack down stitch for your base fabric.
TIP: Remember, it is smart to match your thread to
your base fabric to prevent visible seam lines when
connecting the blocks later.
Continue to run any stippling details, stopping whenever
you’ve stitched the first placement stitch.
Take a piece of appliqué fabric and lay it right side up,
being sure to cover the stitches entirely.
TIP: If experimenting with minky or more plush
appliqués, you can use a water-soluble topper over the
fabric to help the stitches sit over the lofty material.
Run the next step in the design, which should be a tacking
stitch for your appliqué.
Use scissors to trim the excess fabric from the tacking
stitches.
